There are two types of iron metal that will be used in ornamental iron work namely wrought iron and cast iron. The wrought iron done through this process is referred to as hand wrought iron. When iron is made this way it will have varying textures and designs as well. Real carbon is becoming rare to find and this has occasioned addition of mild steel to iron. With ready iron its easy to come up with different architectural designs. One customer will have different needs from another meaning the professional will be doing a lot of custom jobs.
For the blacksmith to have the concept in mind they will need an idea from the customer, preferably in paper. A project that the customer has come up with may require to be constructed in bits which will then be put together. The moment you have blacksmith who will do your designs and weld them as well it means that they have skill that has been accumulated over years. Art work will undergo some damage as much as it may just be stationary and for this kinds of damages , you will turn to the blacksmith .
Wrought iron and cast iron are not easy to work with because they tend to be very difficult metals. If your art has been delivered you will need to care for it especially if you will be putting it on display outside. Iron quality will determine that the quality of the art piece as well so make sure that you use the best iron.
