Asthma & Healthy Living

Healthy LifeA healthy lifestyle is important for everyone. Working in collaboration with the Noaber Foundation’s Healthy Life Alliance (HLA), the Major Alliance believes there is a need to build a sustainable and holistic health care system that is focused on Healthy Living. To achieve this, we have chosen four subthemes; food, housing, work, and leisure. We believe the extent in which someone is living a healthy life is determined by how they behave, what they eat, how they work and finding a balance in their free time. In cooperation with the HLA, the Noaber Foundation and an extensive list of further partners we organise tables which facilitate the process in which the vision, which has been outlined above, is turned into concrete results. This is done by inviting civil society, business and the government to the table.

8 Engage in some resistance exercise Resistance exercise helps to maintain muscle mass and strengthens the body. This has particular relevance as we age, as it reduces the risk of disability and falls. Many highly useful exercises can be done at home, such as press-ups, sit-ups and squats. Invest in a Dyna-Band or dumbbells to extend your home routine to other exercises, too.

If indulgence was harmful, would dietary asceticism be helpful? To find out, Cornaro, aged 40, ate only 350g (12oz) of food per day, roughly 1000 calories according to recent estimates. He ate bread, panatela or broth, and eggs. For meat he chose veal, goat, beef, partridge, thrush, and any poultry that was available. He bought fish caught from the local rivers.

Even if you don’t add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much. About three-quarters of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces. Some aspects of our health and vitality are governed by our genes and how our mother behaves during pregnancy, but many lifestyle factors, including fitness, diet and weight all impact on our ability to live a long and healthy life.

Being healthy can change the way you feel about your whole life. The very point of it is to make you feel good, not to ‘punish your body’. That’s why making sure you reward yourself for developing healthier habits is important. Source: Office for National Statistics life expectancy data for single years.
